The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved an agreement with the city of Goodyear to provide essential career services at the Georgia T. Lord Library, 1900 N. Civic Square in Goodyear.

This collaborative effort will offer residents of Goodyear and the West Valley an easily accessible location to work with an on-site career advisor for job search assistance, resume development, and connections to job training programs for professional certifications.

"My colleagues and I believe we get more done by working together,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Clint Hickman, District 4. “This partnership with the city of Goodyear allows us to pool our strengths and work towards a common goal of empowering our local workforce and promoting their economic growth and stability.”

The agreement also provides access to Maricopa County’s Human Services programs including financial assistance for rent and utilities and no-cost all-day early education services for children under 5 years old.

“This partnership is an excellent example of what can be done when we collaborate to provide resources for the benefit of the community,” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “The city of Goodyear is pleased to partner with Maricopa County to offer these important services to assist individuals and families pursuing self-sufficiency or advancement in their careers—when they achieve their goals, we all benefit from their accomplishment.”

Under the terms of the agreement, the cost for the on-site career advisor will be shared equally between the county and the city, with the arrangement extending through June 30, 2025.

The partnership with the city of Goodyear is part of a broader initiative that brings support services and programs directly to communities across Maricopa County through the regional library system.
