Maricopa County launches update of the White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan

Maricopa County recently launched the update of its White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan and is kicking off public outreach on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 with a virtual community meeting (detail and registration here). The County also launched a website (Maricopa.gov/WhiteTankGrandAve) last month, which will provide updates on the project throughout the process.

About the White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan Update

The White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan is one of several area land use plans that are part of the County’s Vision 2030 Comprehensive Plan and provide more specific and localized planning guidance.  The region has experienced significant growth since adoption of the White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan in 2000.

“People have been moving to Maricopa County in droves since the Great Recession for better jobs and quality of life,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Clint Hickman, District 4. “The only way to accommodate them and maintain what we love about Arizona is through smart planning.  I look forward to hearing from people in my district who want to forge a plan that is clear and practical for this area.”

This update process will ensure the region is planned holistically and in coordination with the wide range of cities, towns, school districts, landowners, and other stakeholders in the area.

Plan Update Timeline

The County will be engaged in the White Tank Grand Avenue Area Plan update process from now through winter 2024. There will be opportunities for the public to get involved and share input through December 2023.
